Who is Caroline Cousins?

I am Caroline Cousins.

I’m also Nancy Pate. I divide my time between a book-filled condo in Orlando. Fla., and a beach house rental on Edisto Island, S.C., where I live with two cats (Raffles and Peach) and a big dog named Doc. I’ve worked as a reporter, critic and editor at newspapers in North Carolina, Missouri, Kansas, and I was book critic for the Orlando Sentinel from 1985 until 2004. Meg and Gail are my 1 ½ times first cousins (our mothers are sisters and our fathers are first cousins.)

I am Caroline Cousins.

I’m also Meg Herndon, a former elementary school teacher who now owns the independent floral business Coming Up Roses. In the fall of 2005, my husband Johnny and I moved to a house we built on Edisto Island, where there’s plenty of room for my three children, their spouses and kids to come visit. (Our cocker spaniel Nina isn’t sure about all their dogs.)

I’m also Gail Greer, and my husband Jeff and I are building a house next door to Meg and Johnny on Edisto. Our grown daughters Aly and Rachel will have their own rooms, and no doubt the Japanese bob-tail cat Cody will try to stay as far as possible away from the lab mix Simmons. I was a military wife for 20 years and worked a variety of jobs, including designer and plantation tour guide.
